Reckoning and Re-Imagining Research with Community: The Story of Jane and Finch
The panel will consist of the project team of the JFCRP members highlighting the work of the JFCRP as it has reckoned and re-imagined the research relationships between community and the academy. The team will present on the four aspects of the JFCRP.
a) The development of a guiding document known as the Principles for Conducting Research in Jane Finch to support and ensure that research conducted in Jane Finch should prioritize the voices and experiences of residents and the community at large.
b) The creation of a set of training modules academics conducting research in and with Jane Finch called Tools for Conducting Research in Jane and Finch Community, to ensure that research benefits and prioritizes the wellbeing of the community.
c) The formation of the Jane Finch Research Collection, a digital repository for past research and scholarship about the neighborhood.
d) Our current collaborative project EE With Not In that will support current and future York students in their Experiential Education experiences with Jane and Finch Community Partners.
