Since the beginning of the war, Ukrainian theater has experienced an upheaval, a sort of decolonization of Ukrainian culture in the face of the “great” Russian culture. While humanity is in crisis, we are experiencing a transformation of perception of Russian culture versus Ukrainian culture. Ukrainian theater abroad has become a full participant in the international theatrical process. Gregory Hlady, Quebec artist of Ukrainian descent, will present his own experience, his history and his life in the Soviet Union, when the war shook the foundations of his training as well as his artistic projects. He will share his reflections on theater in times of war, according to his experience as well as following concrete examples of Ukrainian writers, singers, musicians, painters and playwrights who have spoken since February 2022.
