In 1973, two lesbian activists, Barbara Gittings and Kay Lahusen, and a masked gay psychiatrist successfully pushed the APA to delist homosexuality from its DSM of mental disorders. The delisting of homosexuality from the DSM changed the lives of countless people who no longer needed to be “cured” of the feelings they had for the people they loved. To mark the 50th anniversary of the delisting, Gailey Road will be staging a verbatim play about Barbara and Kay’s activism called The Love Booth featuring original music by Kael Reid. Join us as we read and play music from The Love Booth and Other Plays.
