The future we need: Exploring the intersection of decolonizing development and climate change through the lens of epistemic injustice and recoverability.
This session will take place at the opening of the conference, setting the tone for an engaging and thought-provoking event. Dr. Farhana Sultana will deliver a 60-minute presentation, followed by a one-hour Q&A session, allowing for extensive discussion and interaction with the audience. CASID invites its participants to consider the future we want to see, and the necessary connections we need to achieve it. Through her keynote address Dr. Sultana will reflect on the status quo through her work on decolonizing climate discourses and policies, challenging dominant frameworks, and prioritizing Global South and Indigenous climate knowledge and solutions. She will share her work and discuss how colonialism, imperialism, and capitalism contribute to the climate crisis, disproportionately affecting those least responsible for it. The session aims to bring all Congress participants in an engaging multidisciplinary discussion that will keep participants engaged to discuss the sustainable future we need, and the voices that should be leading it.
